Do you know what to do during a tornado warning?
Bets practice is to avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather. Never try to drive thru flooded streets, a few inches of moving water can push your vehicle off the roadway placing your life at risk.
The safest place when tornados threaten is on the lowest floor inside your home. Stay away from windows and put as many walls between you and the outside as possible. Mobile homes and cars are not safe. If you have protective helmets of any kind, wear them. Listen to the Radio and monitor weather conditions and give yourself plenty of time to get to your safe place.
All families should keep 3 to 7 days of non-perishable food and water on hand at all times in the event disaster strikes.
For life threating emergencies call 911.
For non-emergency services, help and information or if you do not see a shelter near you dial 211 call for help.
