Travis Avoids Jail Time

Randy Travis is going to avoid jail time.

The country superstar has reached a plea deal with prosecutors in his misdemeanor assault case stemming from a fight he got into with another man in a church parking lot last summer in Texas.

Per Travis’ attorney, Larry Friedman, the Grammy winner will receive a 90-day deferred sentence over the incident as the result of a plea of either guilty or no contest entered on Friday in a municipal court in Plano, about 20 miles north of Dallas.

Travis was arrested on Aug. 23, 2012 when he intervened in a verbal spat his fiancée got into with her estranged husband, Ritchie Beougher, and he allegedly roughed up the man.
