The Severe Weather Tax Free Weekend Starts today!
From 12:01 a.m. today, (Feb. 22nd) until midnight, Sunday, Feb. 24, the state of Alabama will waive its four percent sales tax on certain items needed to prepare for severe weather emergencies.
The state’s first severe weather sales tax holiday occurred in July. Beginning in 2013, the holiday will be the final weekend of February each year.

flashlights, battery powered or hand crank radio, such as a NOAA Weather Radio, extra batteries, first-aid kits, cell phone charger, two-way radios, manual can openers, plastic sheeting, duct tape, tools and supplies for securing your home, such as tie-down kits, bungee cords or rope and fire extinguishers.
