Monique Koll wasn’t sure if she’d ever walk again.
Last year, she was hit by a car while riding her bike and suffered a severe spinal cord injury. Doctors weren’t even sure the triathlete would survive at first. But “quit” isn’t a word in her vocabulary. And she proved it recently, by participating in the Rock ‘N Roll Half Marathon. Since she still uses a walker, Monique’s boyfriend, Nick, pushed her in a wheelchair for 13 miles. But when they got to the end, an exhausted Nick reached out and helped her cross the finish line. Monique’s next goal?
To run next year’s marathon, instead of being pushed.
