Historic Anniston appointment

The city of Anniston has its first black municipal judge. James Sims, who has served as an alternate judge for two years, was sworn in last night after being appointed to the position by the City Council. According to the Anniston Star, Councilman David Reddick said Sims’ appointment shows–quote–“we’re becoming more inclusive as a city. It’s showing we don’t have that good ol’ boy mentality this city was famous for.”
