Hazardous weather outlook

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for north and central Alabama, including the counties of Marshall, DeKalb, Etowah, Calhoun, Cherokee and Blount. Along and ahead of a sharp cold front, a line of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms will become better organized through the day today. The primary threat will be damaging winds up to 60 miles an hour. However, a few storms could produce hail up to one inch and there is a low potential for brief tornadoes.
