Turmoil in Paint Rock

In Jackson County a man who called up the police chief in Paint Rock and threatened him and his family apologized in court yesterday and pleaded guilty to reduce charges. Joseph Nevels, son of the mayor of Paint Rock, had previously threatened a police officer who had pulled him over, and was also charged with driving under the influence. In the plea deal he will serve three month’s house arrest and have his year and a half sentenced suspended on condition he have no contact with the police chief and get his head examined.

In a related story the town council of Paint rock last night abolished the municipal court system saying it was too expensive at which point the police chief got up to say without the fines from the court system the town couldn’t afford a police department and so he resigned, as did a police officer.
