Guilt caused a teenage driver to crash his car just because he saw a police car. An 18 year-old Etowah County boy who had been drinking had just enlisted someone to buy him a case of beer at a gas station. He was just leaving the gas station at Ewing and East Lake Drive when he saw a deputy’s patrol car in the parking lot of 411 Feed and Seed. The teen was stricken with so much anxiety that a lawman might notice he had been drinking with a case of beer in his possession that he lost control of his car and went into a ditch and then hit a semi trailer right in front of the deputy. He admitted to the deputy he’d been drinking and was treated for bruises.
