They are protected by Decatur police, but they do not want their taxes to go up.
Some people who live just outside Decatur’s city limits are not happy that the city is hitting them with a higher sales tax and business tax — to help pay for police protection. Cops answer calls within a three mile radius outside the city limits of Decatur. Residents against the higher taxes have a meeting on March 5th to discuss it. But since they can’t vote for city council members in Decatur, they don’t have alot of clout. But they want to get rid of the police protection in their area, relying on sheriff’s deputies instead.
