Governor Ivey issued a state of emergency in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. It means that price gouging —jacking-up gas prices — will be illegal. The declaration also means gasoline tanker drivers can work longer hours delivering fuel. This comes as a major pipeline was shut down after the storm. Colonial pipeline hopes to have gas flowing again on Tuesday. Gas prices in our area jumped almost 25 cents overnight at some gas stations. Gas was listed as high as $2.49 in the area.
